Winter Blanket Distribution in Bangladesh 2026

As winter tightened its grip across Bangladesh, vulnerable communities faced severe hardship due to dense fog, cold winds, and nighttime temperatures dropping to 10–12°C. These harsh conditions posed serious risks to low-income families, particularly those living in riverbank, char, and climate-vulnerable areas, where access to warm clothing and basic services is extremely limited. In response to this urgent humanitarian need, ECHO Bangladesh successfully implemented a Blanket Distribution Program across 12 districts:
Chapainobabganj, Kurigram, Chuadanga, Panchagarh, Thakurgaon, Dinajpur, Sirajganj, Nilphamari, Jashore, Khulna, Satkhira, and Gaibandha.

Through this initiative, a total of 1,680 poor and vulnerable families received winter blankets, helping them stay warm and protected during the coldest days of the season. Priority was given to elderly persons, women, children, persons with disabilities, and families living in extreme poverty.

The distribution aimed not only to provide physical warmth but also to reduce the risk of cold-related illnesses such as cough, fever, and respiratory complications, which typically rise during winter months. The blankets brought immediate relief, dignity, and a sense of care to communities struggling to cope with seasonal hardship.
