Over the past two days, continuous torrential rainfall combined with tidal surges has inundated the low-lying coastal areas of Noakhali. Heavy gusts have toppled trees, damaged river embankments, and distressed thousands of residents.
In Companyganj and Hatia upazilas, three river embankments have been partially breached due to the rising tide. Homes and roads are submerged knee-deep in water. This season, a record-breaking 285 mm of rainfall has been reported in the region. Many areas remain without electricity, and all waterway connections between Hatia, Sandwip (Chattogram), and the rest of the country have been suspended due to dangerous weather conditions.

Responding swiftly to the crisis, ECHO (Educational, Charitable, Humanitarian Organization) has distributed emergency dry food packages to the affected families in Hatia. Our team reached the vulnerable zones despite challenging conditions to ensure no one goes hungry during this crisis.
This emergency initiative is part of ECHO’s ongoing commitment to supporting communities in times of disaster, offering timely relief and restoring dignity through compassion.
